The Melissa & Doug Deluxe Latches Board is an amazing interactive toy if you little one needs some extra fine motor input.
To start off with, Melissa & Doug is known for their child friendly toys and this is not exception. The latches are set on top of six colorful apartments against a wonderful soft blue background. The apartments are all different colors and styles. For example apartment number 4 is red bricks while apartment number 3 is yellow with vertical siding.
Not only are all of the apartments different colors and textures, but the locks are also different. They each require different OT skills to give the child multiple challenges. For example appartment number 5 uses a Sliding Chain Lock while apartment number 6 uses Clasps.
Rather then the child just opening up the door for the skills, there is a surprise hidden inside each apartment. For example behind the doors of apartment number 1, the child will see1 Purple Pony. Hidden behind door number 2, the chid will love the two Blue Dogs. All of the animals behind the doors match the apartment color.

Cons:

Suggestions:
- Have your child read the number of the apartment and then open the door. After your child opens the door, let them count the animals behind the doors.
- If your child loves numbers, have them open up two doors at a time. After they count the animals individually, have them count them together to see a new number. For example behind door number 2 they will count 2 dogs. When the open up door number 6 they will count six fish. After that have them count both the 2 dogs and 6 fish to come up with the number 8.
